Crochet Stitchalong (in-person)

March 16, 2023 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

This is a great project for beginner to intermediate crocheters who know the basic stitches and want to challenge themselves to learn some new ones! Larissa will not be teaching basics like single and double crochet, but rather building on that foundation. Advanced crocheters are also welcome to join in and enjoy crocheting with a group. Register here: http://crochet-stitchalong.eventbrite.com
Each week Larissa will give review the stitches in the next week’s section of the pattern, answer questions, and give attendees a link to a video for reference at home.
So crocheters can choose their own color palate, the library will not be providing the materials. The pattern is designed with a four-ply yarn in mind, such as Red Heart With Love, Big Twist Value Worsted, or Caron Jumbo. Larissa likes Big Twist the best, but use what you like as long as it’s four ply.
The pattern follows a five color palate (A,B,C,D,E – with E being a variegated yarn). 2 skeins of A, 1 of B, 1 of C, 2 of D, and 1 of E.
If you’d like to use one color, you’ll need 4 skeins.
If you’re like Larissa and can’t be contained by a specific color order, feel free to make up your own. The color order matters less than the stitches, so there’s no need to get too worked up about it. Just pick colors you’ll enjoy when you’re finished with your blanket. Reach out to Larissa if you need help decided how many skeins of each of your colors you’ll need.
You’ll also need a size I/9 (5.5 mm) crochet hook or the size that allows you to achieve the appropriate gauge of 12 dc and 7 rows = 4″ [10 cm]. This is important with a square blanket where we’ll work in the round from the inside out. The wrong gauge will cause your blanket to buckle. We’ll talk more about gauge in week one. A yarn needle and a pair of scissors will also be useful for switching colors and weaving in ends.
The pattern was created by Jeanne Steinhilber and adapted to a stitchalong format by The Crochet Crowd, who was very kind to allow us to use their materials as reference.
