Weave your way through the stories of Irish immigrants who came to the lead mine district as early as 1822 and created their own institutions, communities, and festivals. This unplugged one-hour show includes traditional songs in both English and in Gaelic languages to convey the hopes and sorrows of a people who persevered despite hardships encountered in their home country and as immigrants to America.
Tracey Roberts, Historian and Caitriona Raine Terry, Literature and Folklore specialist, are a mother-daughter duo. They have been preforming together for over three years. Tracey has been giving talks related to the Old Lead Mine District for three decades. She taught at UW-Platteville in the History Department and sang for many years with a Celtic group. Caitriona has been singing for over a decade and has also conducted research on Galena history. She is currently the Guest Services and Book Store Manager at the Galena and US Grant History Museum.
