Summer Reading Program

Summer reading at the library kicks off May 27! Stop by the library any time that day to sign up, grab a reading log and celebrate color with Bluey activities. Children in preschool through sixth grade will color in a paint splotch on their log for every 30 minutes they read. For every three hours read, they will bring their log to the library to receive a free book and a prize from local business sponsors: Candy Carnival, Chestnut Mountain Resort, Culver’s of Galena, Elle & Beck’s and Galena Roasters. Children will also get to add a crane to the library’s community art installation for every three hours read. Those who read twelve hours this summer will receive an invitation to an exclusive pool party at Country Inn & Suites. Rising seventh through twelfth graders can stop by the library to sign up and grab a reading log. They will check off each day they read for any amount of time. For each 10 days read (up to 60), they will receive their choice of local gift cards and an entry into a drawing for one of three larger prizes.
